Starting a pension
Have you thought about starting a pension yet? No? Well you’re not on your own . . . I myself didn’t even think about a pension until i was 30 years old, at which point I kicked myself when I found out how much more money would have been in the pot if I’d started a pension at the age of 21.
It’s true that the pension world is slightly confusing, particularly when they start talking about annuities and about the fact that your pension isn’t guaranteed to grow or return any amount of money even though you paid into it for the last 30 years!
But I took the time out recently to talk to a pension adviser at my place of work and it all started to make sense to me. The tax breaks, the security, the feeling of knowing that I’ve got something tucked away for later life . . . That’s a great feeling.
Seriously though – if you’ve been thinking about getting a pension – go and speak to a qualified pensions advisor and get cracking!
